NewsSuccessful Week Comes To an End
Faughan Valley had a busy week of competitions with our Mid Week Open, Saturdays Strokeplay, the Happy Landing Open on Sunday and Captain Cecil Kings Charity Open on Monday.
In the Mid Week Open the winner was 15 handicapper Barry Reilly with 37 points. In second spot was Philip George with 36 points playing off 20, and Chris Nutt taking third spot with 34 points playing off 13.
In Saturdays Open Strokeplay competition the winner was 11 handicapper James McGrotty with 62 nett, with second spot going to young Dan Hinds with 64 Nett playing off 3. Third spot went to one of the junior members Luke Hasson who carded 65 nett playing off 6.
On Sunday we had a good turn out for the Happy Landing Open with the presentation later on that night at the Happy. The winner was 12 handicapper Glenn Curran on a break of tie with 10 handicapper Robert Curry both carding 38 points. Third spot went to 24 handicapper Eoghan Brolly with 37 points. The winner of the Gross was 9 handicapper Shane McGahon, whilst the Front and Back Nine went to Paul Farren with 21 points and Nigel Craig with 23 points respectively. A thanks goes to the Happy Landing for their sponsorship.
On Monday there was a great turn out for the Club Captains Charity Open with visitors from Foyle, Buncrana, Roe Park, Letterkenny , Greencastle and Newtonstewart who helped to make it a successful day with all proceeds going to the cardiac assessment unit at Altnagelvin. The first spot was decided on a BOT between 14 handicapper Glenn Hinds and 11 Handicapper kevin Payne both carding a great score of 46 points. Third spot went to 23 handicapper Barry Devine of Greencastle with 40 points, whilst the front nine was won by James Lindsay with 23 points and the back nine Martin Norris with 22 points. The ladies first prize went to 35 handicapper Evelyn Smith with 39 points with 27 handicapper Elizabeth Mullan taking second place with 37 points.
